Activation is an additional step in the registration process designed to limit both intentional and unintentional software piracy. Product activation is a popular way for software vendors to control software piracy and is used by many of the largest software companies including Microsoft. By limiting software piracy, companies are able to focus more attention and resources toward development and customer service providing substantially more value to customers.
Activation is not intended to hinder legitimate usage under the terms of the product licensing agreement.
Activation normally occurs during the initial installation process. When installing the product for the first time on a machine the install program will automatically activate your product key. In environments where the install program cannot be run, such as on a Linux operating system, a command line or manual activation process is supported. Please see the help file for details about licensing the edition you are using.
The node id is a one-way hash of the machine name that is used during the activation process. This is done to protect your privacy as we never learn or collect the actual machine name of the computer where the products are activated. In most cases you do not need to know your NODEID as the activation process is designed to automatically calculate this value.
During the installation of the product the NODEID will be automatically calculated and used to activate your product key.
If you wish to find your NODEID you can find this in a couple of ways:
If the components are not activated on a machine, trying to use any of the components on that machine will cause a box to appear that will contain the NODEID of that machine.
You can run this application to get the NODEID of the machine it is run on.
No. Product activation will be completed during the installation process. Please see the help file for details about licensing the edition you are using.
The installer for the product will attempt to use firewall and proxy settings configured on the system. If automatic activation fails the product can still be activated by following the Offline Activation instructions.
To activate your software the only thing you will need to supply is a valid Product Key and NODEID. These are the only things that we require in order to validate a user and allow activation. In addition, the NODEID is a one-way hash so it would be impossible to learn any kind of information from it. By not gathering any information other than this /n software completely protects user privacy.
You may write code using a toolkit which has not been activated, however at runtime you will see an exception indicating a license could not be found. All products must be activated, or their use will result in an exception.
Offline activation is supported. When running the setup if our licensing server cannot be reached you will be presented with a URL for manual activation. Copy the URL to a machine with internet access and follow the directions to download your license keys. Copy the nkc.com.pk file from the online machine back to the offline machine and double click the nkc.com.pk file to import the keys to your registry. After importing the keys, re-run the setup on the offline machine and it will detect the installed license. If you require assistance please contact support@nkc.com.pk
If you transfer the software to another machine, you must submit a License Transfer Request (nkc.com.pk"). Before submitting this request, please be sure that the software has been completely removed from the machine where the software previously was installed. After submitting the license transfer request you may install the software on the new machine. You do not need to wait for confirmation before installing on the new machine.
No, Royalty Free licenses do not require activation on deployment machines. When building compiled applications, activation is only required for the development machine where the license is installed. When an application is compiled on a machine with a valid activated license, the licensing information is built into the application and can be deployed freely.

FileVault full-disk encryption (FileVault 2) uses XTS-AES encryption with a bit key to help prevent unauthorized access to the information on your startup disk.
FileVault 2 is available in OS X Lion or later. When FileVault is turned on, your Mac always requires that you log in with your account password.
If other users have accounts on your Mac, you might see a message that each user must type in their password before they will be able to unlock the disk. For each user, click the Enable User button and enter the user's password. User accounts that you add after turning on FileVault are automatically enabled.
Choose how you want to be able to unlock your disk and reset your password, in case you ever forget your password:
If you lose both your account password and your FileVault recovery key, you won't be able to log in to your Mac or access the data on your startup disk.
Encryption occurs in the background as you use your Mac, and only while your Mac is awake and plugged in to AC power. You can check progress in the FileVault section of Security & Privacy preferences. Any new files that you create are automatically encrypted as they are saved to your startup disk.
When FileVault setup is complete and you restart your Mac, you will use your account password to unlock your disk and allow your Mac to finish starting up. FileVault requires that you log in every time your Mac starts up, and no account is permitted to log in automatically.
If you forget your account password or it doesn't work, you might be able to reset your password.
If you want to change the recovery key used to encrypt your startup disk, turn off FileVault in Security & Privacy preferences. You can then turn it on again to generate a new key and disable all older keys.
If you no longer want to encrypt your startup disk, you can turn off FileVault:
Decryption occurs in the background as you use your Mac, and only while your Mac is awake and plugged in to AC power. You can check progress in the FileVault section of Security & Privacy preferences.
* If you store your recovery key with Apple or your iCloud account, there's no guarantee that Apple will be able to give you the key if you lose or forget it. Not all languages and regions are serviced by AppleCare or iCloud, and not all AppleCare-serviced regions offer support in every language. If you set up your Mac for a language that AppleCare doesn't support, then turn on FileVault and store your key with Apple (OS X Mavericks only), your security questions and answers could be in a language that AppleCare doesn't support.

iPhone is designed to protect your data and your privacy. Built-in security features help prevent anyone but you from accessing the data on your iPhone and in iCloud. Built-in privacy features minimize how much of your information is available to anyone but you, and you can adjust what information is shared and where you share it.
To take maximum advantage of the security and privacy features built into iPhone, follow these practices.
Set a strong passcode: Setting a passcode to unlock iPhone is the most important thing you can do to safeguard your device.
Use Face ID or Touch ID: Face ID (supported models) or Touch ID (supported models) provides a secure and convenient way to unlock your iPhone, authorize purchases and payments, and sign in to many third-party apps. See Set up Face ID on iPhone or Set up Touch ID on iPhone.
Turn on Find My iPhone: Find My helps you find your iPhone if it’s lost or stolen and prevents anyone else from activating or using your iPhone if it’s missing.
Control what features are available without unlocking your iPhone:Disallow or allow access to some commonly used features, such as Control Center and USB connections, when your device is locked.
Your Apple ID provides access to your data in iCloud and your account information for services like the App Store and Apple Music. To learn how to protect the security of your Apple ID, see Keep your Apple ID secure on iPhone.
For participating websites and apps, there are multiple ways to make sign-in more convenient and secure.
Sign in with passkeys: Passkeys let you sign in to website and app accounts with Face ID or Touch ID instead of a password. Because a passkey doesn’t leave the devices where you’re signed in with your Apple ID, and because it’s specific to the website or app you create it for, it’s protected from leaks and phishing attempts. And unlike a password, you don’t have to create, guard, or remember it.
Use Sign in with Apple: You can use your Apple ID instead of creating and remembering user names and passwords for signing in to accounts. Sign in with Apple also provides the security of two-factor authentication, and it limits the information shared about you.
Let iPhone create strong passwords: If passkey support or Sign in with Apple isn’t available when you sign up for a service, let iPhone automatically create a strong password that you don’t have to remember.
For all your website and app passwords, there are many other ways to make sign-in safer and easier.
Replace weak passwords: If you create any weak or compromised passwords, iPhone automatically identifies them for you to fix.
Share passkeys and passwords securely: Use AirDrop to securely share a passkey or password with someone using their iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Use the built-in authenticator for two-factor authentication: For websites and apps that offer two-factor authentication, fill in automatically generated verification codes without relying on SMS messages or additional apps.
Easily fill in SMS passcodes: You can automatically fill in one-time passcodes sent from websites and apps to your iPhone.
Keep passkeys and passwords up to date on all your devices: iCloud Keychain automatically keeps your credentials up to date across your other devices.
Use Safety Check: You can quickly and conveniently review and update information you share with people and apps. If your personal safety is at risk, you can also use Safety Check to immediately stop sharing information.
Control app tracking: All apps are required to ask your permission before tracking you or your iPhone across websites and apps owned by other companies for advertising or to share your information with a data broker. You can change permission later, and you can stop all apps from requesting permission.
Control what you share with apps: You can review and adjust the data you share with apps, the location information you share, the hardware you share, and how Apple delivers advertising to you in the App Store, Apple News, and Stocks.
Review the privacy practices of apps: Go to the app’s product page in the App Store for a developer-reported summary of the app’s privacy practices, including what data is collected. For the apps that you download, review the App Privacy Report, which shows you how apps are using the permissions you granted them.
Protect your Mail activity: Turn on Mail Privacy Protection to make it harder for senders to learn about your Mail activity. Mail Privacy Protection hides your IP address so senders can’t link it to your other online activity or use it to determine your exact location. Mail Privacy Protection also prevents senders from seeing whether you’ve opened the email they sent you.
Hide your personal email address: When you subscribe to iCloud+, Hide My Email allows you to generate unique, random email addresses that forward to your personal email account. You don’t have to share your personal email address when filling out forms or signing up for newsletters on the web, or when sending email.
Use the internet more privately with iCloud Private Relay (beta): When you subscribe to iCloud+, you can use iCloud Private Relay to help prevent websites and network providers from creating a detailed profile about you.
Manage your privacy, and help protect yourself against malicious websites: Safari helps prevent trackers from following you across websites. You can review the Privacy Report to see a summary of trackers that have been encountered and prevented by Intelligent Tracking Prevention on the current webpage you’re visiting. You can also review and adjust Safari settings to keep your browsing activities private from others who use the same device, and help protect yourself from malicious websites. See Browse privately in Safari on iPhone.
If you find your iPhone and personal accounts are targeted by sophisticated remote attacks, you can also help protect yourself with Lockdown Mode. Lockdown Mode offers an extreme level of security for the very few users who, because of who they are or what they do, may be personally targeted by some of the most sophisticated digital threats, such as those from private companies developing state-sponsored mercenary spyware. Lockdown Mode automatically protects Safari, Messages, Home, and many other Apple services and apps. Webpages and internet communications continue working, but with reduction in performance and usability. See Harden your iPhone from a cyberattack with Lockdown Mode.
To get personalized support for these practices, go to the Apple Support website (not available in all countries or regions).
To learn how Apple designs security into the core of its platforms, see the Apple Platform Security User Guide. To learn more about how Apple protects your information, go to the Privacy website.

Windows 10 sometimes uses encryption by default, and sometimes doesntits complicated. Heres how to check if your Windows 10 PCs storage is encrypted and how to encrypt it if it isnt. Encryption isnt just about stopping the NSAits about protecting your sensitive data in case you ever lose your PC, which is something everyone needs.
Unlike all other modern consumer operating systemsmacOS, Chrome OS, iOS, Privacy Drive Free Activate, and AndroidWindows 10 still doesnt offer integrated encryption tools to everyone. You may have to pay for the Professional edition of Windows 10 or use a third-party encryption solution.
RELATED:Windows Will Start Encrypting Hard Drives By Default: Everything You Need to Know
Many new PCs that ship with Windows 10 will automatically have Device Encryption enabled. This feature was first introduced in Windowsand there are specific hardware requirements for this. Not every PC will have this feature, but some will.
Theres another limitation, tooit only actually encrypts your drive if you sign into Windows with a Microsoft account. Your recovery key is then uploaded to Microsofts servers. This will help you recover your files if you ever cant log into your PC. (This is also why the FBI likely isnt too worried about this feature, but were just recommending encryption as a means to protect your data from laptop thieves here. If youre worried about the NSA, you may want to use a different encryption solution.)
Device Encryption will also be enabled if you sign into an organizations domain. For example, you might sign into a domain owned by your employer or school. Your recovery key would then be uploaded to your organizations domain servers. However, this doesnt apply to the average persons PConly PCs joined to domains.
To check if Device Encryption is enabled, open the Settings app, navigate to System > About, and look for a Device encryption setting at the bottom of the About pane. If you dont see anything about Device Encryption here, your PC doesnt support Device Encryption and its not enabled. If Device Encryption is enabledor if you can enable it by signing in with a Microsoft accountyoull see a message saying so here.
RELATED:Should You Upgrade to the Professional Edition of Windows 10?
If Device Encryption isnt enabledor if you want a more powerful encryption solution that can also encrypt removable USB drives, for exampleyoull want to use BitLocker. Microsofts BitLocker encryption tool has been part of Windows for several versions now, and its generally well regarded. However, Privacy Drive Free Activate, Microsoft still restricts BitLocker to Professional, Enterprise, and Education editions of Windows
BitLocker is most secure on a computer that contains Trusted Platform Module (TPM) hardware, which most modern PCs do. You can quickly check whether your PC has TPM hardware from within Windows, or check with your computers manufacturer if youre not sure. If you built your own PC, you may able to add a TPM chip to it. Search for a TPM chip that’s sold as an add-on module. You’ll need one that supports the exact motherboard inside your PC.
RELATED:How to Use BitLocker Without a Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
Windows normally says BitLocker requires a TPM, but theres a hidden option that allows you to enable BitLocker without a TPM. Youll have to use a USB flash drive as a startup key that must be present every boot if you enable this option.
If you already have a Professional edition of Windows 10 installed on your PC, you can search for BitLocker in the Start menu and use the BitLocker control panel to enable it. If you upgraded for free from Windows 7 Professional or Windows Professional, you should have Windows 10 Professional.
If you dont have a Professional edition of Windows 10, you can pay $99 to upgrade your Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Professional. Just open the Settings app, Privacy Drive Free Activate, navigate to Update & security > Activation, and click the Go to Store button. Youll gain access to BitLocker and the other features that Windows 10 Professional includes.
Security expert Bruce Schneier also likes a proprietary full-disk encryption tool for Windows named BestCrypt, Privacy Drive Free Activate. Its fully functional on Windows 10 with modern hardware. However, this tool costs $99the same price as an upgrade to Windows 10 Professionalso upgrading Windows to take advantage of BitLocker may be a better choice.
RELATED:3 Alternatives to the Now-Defunct TrueCrypt for Your Encryption Needs
Spending another $99 just to encrypt your hard drive for some additional security can be a tough sell when modern Windows PCs often only cost a few hundred bucks in the first place. You dont have to pay the extra money for encryption, because BitLocker isnt the only option. BitLocker is the most integrated, well-supported optionbut there are other encryption tools you can use.
The venerable TrueCrypt, an open-source full-disk encryption tool that is no longer being developed, has some issues with Windows 10 PCs. It cant encrypt GPT system partitions and boot them using UEFI, a configuration most Windows 10 PCs use. However, VeraCryptan open-source full-disk encryption tool based on the TrueCrypt source codedoes support EFI system partition encryption as of versions a and
In other words, VeraCrypt should allow you to encrypt your Windows 10 PCs system partition for free.
RELATED:How to Secure Sensitive Files on Your PC with VeraCrypt
TrueCrypts developers did famously shut down development and declare TrueCrypt vulnerable and unsafe to use, but the jury is still out on whether this is true. Much of the discussion around this centers on whether the NSA and other security agencies have a way to crack this open-source encryption. If youre just encrypting your hard drive so thieves cant access your personal files if they steal your laptop, you dont have to worry about this. TrueCrypt should be more than secure enough. The VeraCrypt project has also made security improvements, and should potentially be more secure than TrueCrypt. Whether youre encrypting just a few files or your entire system partition, its what we recommend.
Wed like to see Microsoft give more Windows 10 users access to BitLockeror at least extend Device Encryption so it can be enabled on more PCs. Modern Windows computers should have built-in encryption tools, just like all other modern consumer operating systems do. Windows 10 users shouldnt have to pay extra or hunt down third-party software to protect their important data if their laptops are ever misplaced or stolen.
